Community Builds a House for CASA
The Ninth Annual CASA for Kids Playhouse Raffle was a smashing success! The drawing took place at the Farmer's Market on August 12, 2006. Over $20,000 was raised, and the CASA program netted over $18,000! This was largely accomplished through the generosity of our sponsors. Our Platinum sponsors were John Bethell Title Company, AM 1370 WGCL, and Becky Wann, Century 21 Realty Group. Gold sponsors were Comprehensive Financial Consultants, Inc., Bloomington Elks Lodge #446, The Bill C. and Patricia P. Brown Charitable Foundation, Inc., and Circle-Prosco, Inc. Silver sponsors were Mike Sutherland State Farm Insurance and Finelight. Bronze sponsors were Hoosier Energy REC, Inc., Chapman and Nelson, P.C., Arjuna Multi Media, Bloomington Professional Metropolitan Firefighters Local 586, Monroe Bank, Todd Whitlock, DDS, and Bunger & Robertson, Attorneys at Law. Everywhere Signs donated yard signs and banners, A Better Way Moving and Storage transported the house to the winner and Tek Print created all of the tickets. The second prize entertainment package featured items donated by Indiana University, Classic Touch Limousine Service, Limestone Grill, Monroe YMCA, Sportsplex, Hoosier Heights Climbing, Edgewood, BHHS and BHSN, Bloomington Hospital and many more. Of course, we wouldn't have a playhouse to raffle if it weren't for the generosity of the firefighters with the Bloomington Metropolitan Professional Firefighters Union Local 586 who spent many hours constructing the playhouse using donated materials from Bloomington Elks Lodge 446. This is the fifth straight years the firefighters have built the house with love. This year, the EMTs of Bloomington Hospital Ambulance Service joined the team and painted the house. They chose their own color scheme using custom paint donated by Bloomington Paint and Wallpaper. The interior and exterior have beautiful murals created by an EMT, who is also a muralist. Curious George was the theme of the interior décor. CASA owes a deep debt of gratitude to these folks! Please remember how important it is to support the businesses and emergency providers that help CASA give a much needed service to our community and its most vulnerable children. Lastly, many thanks, especially to our CASA volunteers and FSA/MHA Board Members who donated their time selling tickets as well as our committee members Margaret Emmert, Chairperson, Mavis Anderson, Kristin Bishay, Deborah Dunning, Donna Graves, Sandy Rampley, Kelly Ryan, Marilyn Stockton, Mary Sutherland, Tiffani Sinn Trulock, and Samantha Uslan.
